Hypnotherapy for comfort and wellbeing
Used alongside the care you already receive from your physician, never instead of it. Diagnosis comes first, every time, without exception.
Read this part properly
Pain is information. It gets diagnosed first.
Pain exists to tell you something. Working on it without knowing what is causing it risks quietening a signal that was doing an important job. For that reason there is a firm rule here, and it is not negotiable.
- You need a current diagnosis from a physician for the pain in question.
- You need to stay under that doctor’s care while you work with Al.
- Your doctor should know you are doing this. Al may ask you to confirm that.
- Nothing here is a reason to change or stop any prescribed treatment.
If you have pain that has not been assessed, the right next call is to your doctor rather than to Al. He will tell you exactly that if you book anyway.
What this is not. Hypnotherapy offered here is non-medical. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent pain or any underlying condition, and it makes no claim to reduce pain. Al is a certified hypnotherapist, not a physician. This service is supportive work that sits alongside medical care, and no outcome is guaranteed.
What it can be used for
Living with persistent pain is not only a physical matter. It changes sleep, tightens the body, wears down patience, and quietly reorganises a person’s whole week around it. Those parts can be worked on.
- Relaxation, and the physical tension that tends to build up around a painful area
- The stress-and-bracing loop that persistent pain often sets off
- Winding-down and sleep routines that have been disrupted
- The frustration and low mood that living with it day after day can bring
- Self-hypnosis for relaxation that you can use on your own, at home
The approach
How the work is structured
Slower and more careful than the other services, and it begins with what your doctor has already established.
-
Start from the medical picture
What your physician has diagnosed, what treatment you are receiving, and what they have advised. That comes first, and it sets the boundaries of everything that follows.
-
Work on the load around it
Relaxation, the bracing and guarding that builds up, the sleep that has gone, and the wearing-down effect of managing this every day. None of this touches the diagnosis; it addresses what has grown around it.
-
Give you something you can use alone
Self-hypnosis for relaxation that does not depend on booking an appointment, so you have something available on a difficult evening.
Results vary from person to person and no outcome is guaranteed. Nothing on this page should be read as a claim that hypnotherapy reduces, treats, or resolves pain or its underlying cause.
Before you book
What a session is actually like
You stay in control
Hypnosis is not sleep. You hear everything, you can speak, move, adjust your position, or stop the session at any point.
Nobody can make you do anything
You cannot be made to act against your own values or say something private. Stage hypnosis is entertainment with willing volunteers. This is not that.
Comfort comes first
Tell Al what sitting or lying position works for you. There is no correct posture and nothing about the session requires you to stay still if that hurts.
Common questions
Comfort and wellbeing questions
Can hypnosis make my pain go away?
That is not a claim Al makes, and you should be wary of anyone who does. This is supportive work that sits alongside your medical care and is aimed at relaxation, tension, sleep, and the day-to-day load of living with persistent pain. Anything to do with the pain itself belongs with your physician.
Do I need my doctor’s approval before booking?
You need a current diagnosis and you need to remain under their care. Al strongly prefers that your doctor knows you are doing this, and he may ask you to confirm it. If the pain has never been assessed, see your physician first.
Will I stop noticing an injury if something is wrong?
No, and that is precisely why a diagnosis is required before any work begins. Nothing here is aimed at switching off pain that is warning you about damage. Pain that signals injury is doing a necessary job and it should keep doing it.
